What does the Kyoto agreement mean to you?

In December 1997 38 developed countries signed the Kyoto Energy Agreement to combat global warming. All agreed to reduce emissions of a range of greenhouse gases.
The UK agreed to reduce carbon emissions by 12.5% and to achieve this the government is introducing a number of green policies. The heating of buildings accounts for half the UK's entire energy consumption. Part L of the building regulations sets standards for energy efficiency in buildings.

The new legislation states that a PVCu window must have a maximum U-value (energy efficient rating) of 2.0 W/m2k.

Clearly the government cannot insist that all non-conforming windows must be replaced. However, where they are replaced, they must meet the new standards. Windows installed after 1st April 2002 must comply.

Abbey is committed to these new regulations and are members of the government body, Fensa, that administers them. Our environment is important to us too! Not only did we commit to energy efficient glass 2 years early - we have a waste glass recycling scheme too.

Brother Terry's Ten Commandments:

1. The customer is always right.

2. If the customer is wrong refer to the first commandment.

3. We will always treat the customer with respect.

level of service from an after sales request that you would from

     placing an order.

6. We will always treat the customer's home as if it were our own.

7. We will make every window and door with the care we would want
if it was being fitted in our home.

8. We will never sell a genuine Abbey product for less than it is
     worth.

9. We will honestly recommend other companies if the customer
     wants more than one quotation.

10. We will always refrain from high pressure selling.
