The Vision
Our customer in the Reading area wanted to replace an underutilised space with a grand, year-round living area that combined the light of a conservatory with the thermal efficiency and “solid” feel of a traditional brick extension. Because the property possessed significant architectural character, the design needed to be sympathetic to its heritage while providing a sharp, modern contrast.
Navigating the Planning Process
This project was more than just a standard installation. Due to the property’s status, the project required a comprehensive Heritage Statement to gain planning approval. Our team managed this complex process from start to finish, liaising with local authorities to ensure the proposed design met stringent aesthetic and structural guidelines.
Design & Architecture
To achieve the desired “Orangery” aesthetic, we utilised the Ultraframe Livinroof system. This hybrid roofing system allows for the integration of large glazed panels within a solid grey roof, providing an incredible sense of internal height and light without the “greenhouse effect” of older glass roofs.
On the exterior corners, we installed Loggia Columns. These not only provide superior thermal performance (up to four times more efficient than a standard brick pier) but also give the structure its grand, architectural orangery silhouette.

For the fenestration, we selected Origin aluminium doors and windows. Finished in a sleek Anthracite Grey, these slimline profiles maximise the view of the garden while offering industry-leading security and weatherproofing. The bi-fold doors seamlessly connect the new interior lounge to the patio area, creating the ultimate indoor-outdoor living experience.
