We have a stunning collection of Residence 9 (R9) Windows here at Abbey Windows. They have been developed to catch the classic charm of timber product with the benefits of a modern window. The complete renovation of this Mortimer home encompassed the retention of detail found in the original dwelling and when it came to windows these were no exception.
After browsing the market place and various ranges, the R9 collection was chosen for their home renovation. The exact range offered by Abbey was the cottage effect with Astragal Georgian Bar.
How to Create the Classic Timber Charm
Produced using a ‘Butt Jointed’ system which is normally seen in timber window production rather than conventional production. A 45-degree corner welded frame system and a variety of foil surface finishes, for this project white was used and the result was amazing.
This R9 Collection is A-Rated for insulation with not a piece of timber in sight. These Windows are the perfect collection for approval from Local Authorities in Conservation areas and on some Listed Properties.
The R9 Design, Mortimer
The Astragal Georgian Bars seen in these higher R9 Window panes are bars adhered to internal and external sides with a false Duplex bar between the glass resulting in the illusion of smaller, individual window panes. The conventional alternative is to a bar set between the glass.
The R9 Sash Windows are easy to clean as they are made from a timber alternative. However, this does not achieve the same visual effect up close. There are many hardware options including fluted couplers, corner posts, and the addition of ornate handles. The handles used in this project are the Pewter finish Monkey tail handles which compliment the design of the window.
