Replacement Windows, Multi-Storey Building, Leicester

A few years ago, Abbey Windows was approached to replace the windows in an eye-catching seven-storey student accommodation building in Leicester. Despite the challenges such as high winds when handling glass at a great height (or, indeed, perhaps because of them!) we were delighted to take this one – and we’re sure you’ll agree that the results are spectacular.

It remains to date our latest ever project, and one that we’re particularly proud of. For the project, we used market-leading uPVC windows from Liniar, which when expertly installed by our team, were able to deliver the results that the clients needed.

Abbey Windows, with the support of our sister company Reading Trade Windows, undertook this project to our usual high standards, understanding exactly what was needed for these specifications.

Technical Specifications

Given that this was such a large and important project, there were a number of steps involved to ensure that the client was happy every step of the way. Working with Liniar, our Technical Director James Stuart discussed the acoustic simulations and assessed the wind load calculations to meet the specifications.

James explains: “Once we had ensured that we could meet the standards required, we were provided with a sample window for the client’s approval. Over 500 New Windows

Leicester’s student accommodation building saw more than 500 of its existing windows replaced with the latest tilt and turn windows from Liniar, installed by the Abbey and Reading Trade Windows teams. For a modern look befitting the building, these windows were chosen in Anthracite Grey, which continues to be an incredibly popular colour for new builds or bringing traditional properties right up to date.
